Why I wrote this Book
Roughly 5 years ago my cousin and good friend Fiona had mentioned the desire to see a shrew. I kept this in my mind and as a lover of wildlife and wanting to do something special for Trixie, Fiona's daughter. I wanted to tell a story that included wildlife but most importantly of how great her father Davey was and that he'd always go to any length to help everyone.   A big thanks goes out to Fiona for being so strong and getting Josie and myself together for the book.     Obviously I want to thank Josie for her great illustrations and bringing Sammy and the other animals to life, she's made Sammy look so daring on some pages and very vulnerable on others throughout the book. Just amazing!     A big thanks to Heather and Christine for proof reading duties.

All profits from Sammy the Shew book sales are going to charity, read about the charities and why they were chosen below:

Dystonia Society

Dystonia Society.

I'm hoping that the sale of Sammy the Shrew will bring awareness of Dystonia to the public and the medical profession.

Dystonia is a movement disorder that many people have never heard of, it affects over 70,000 people in the UK. There are numerous different types of dystonia - find out more here Types of Dystonia.

For more have a look at the Dystonia Society's website The Dystonia Society

The Mammal Society

The Mammal Society

I haven't been a member of the Mammal Society yet, but in the future hope to be. The reason I chose The Mammal Society is they research and help to protect shrews and other mammals in the UK.

SAMH

SAMH - The Scottish Association for Mental Health

The third charity that Sammy is supporting is SAMH which helps people with mental health in Scotland. Mental health is so important and very underfunded in society.
